🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In March 1954, a witness in Scranton, Pennsylvania reported seeing a luminous object in the sky that resembled a vapor trail or the tail of a meteor. The sighting occurred at 7:40 PM local time and lasted between 20 and 30 seconds. The witness, a laborer with no aviation background, described the object as a bright, uniform line with no visible details. He heard no sound, possibly masked by nearby traffic noise.
Investigators under Project 10073 considered the object could have been a luminous meteor or a high-altitude jet's vapor trail. Although no photos or radar data were taken, the report noted the witness appeared sincere and had not consumed any substances before the sighting. The lack of physical evidence or additional testimony left the case unresolved, with no definitive explanation.
