🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A report from April 24, 1954, describes a green object surrounded by white haze and with a tail twice its length. A ground observer saw it for 45 seconds, long enough to rule out a typical meteor. The lack of precise data such as position or speed made any conclusive evaluation difficult.
Weather conditions were ideal: clear sky, unlimited visibility, and no wind. Although the possibility of a meteor or a jet afterburner was mentioned, there was no physical evidence or photographs to support the sighting. The report concludes the phenomenon could have been optical, such as a distorted distant light source.
