🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In April 1954, three military observers at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa reported seeing an unidentified object. The object appeared as a bright, bluish-white star-like object, with a diameter equivalent to 18 inches, and moved at an estimated height of over 40,000 feet. The observers, who were trained weather personnel, described the object making two full turns, moving in a zigzag pattern, and then disappearing in a southeasterly direction. The observation lasted approximately 5 seconds for one observer and 10 seconds for two others. There was no evidence of weather balloons or other objects in the area, increasing the uncertainty about the nature of the phenomenon.
The report concluded that there was insufficient data to evaluate the object, as no photographs were taken and no physical evidence was found. Despite the observers being reliable and trained, they could not identify the object based on known objects such as meteors or aircraft. The radar controller at the time considered the object likely too high to be detected by available equipment. This case remains an unsolved mystery in the files of unidentified aerial phenomena.
