🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In April 1954, a spherical object was recovered near Mildenhall Air Base in England. The object, made of hollow aluminum and approximately 16 inches in diameter, weighed about 6 ounces. It was attached to a piece of fabric measuring five feet by five feet, held by binder twine, and had remnants of a ruptured balloon. No identifying marks were found except the word "HARMLEYS" written in yellow grease pencil and the label "Made in England" on part of the balloon.
The object was seen floating to earth around 16:00 hours on April 26, 1954, and landed in a tree near the base. Captain Thompson attempted to identify it by contacting various parts of the UK, and Special Agent Scarborough spoke with the duty officer at Duxford, who assured it did not originate there. Some believed it might have been used for tracking purposes by a radar station. No formal investigation was requested regarding the incident.
