🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A T-33 pilot at Foster AFB, Texas, reported a tear-drop shaped object with a fluorescent green body and a reddish tail. The sighting lasted 10 seconds, and the object made a half-spiral to the left before vanishing. No sound was heard, and the object remained at the same altitude as the aircraft. The official conclusion attributed the event to a meteor, with the spiral motion explained as an optical illusion or movement of the pilot's own plane. Light haze was reported, which could have influenced the observation.
The report, part of Project 10073, was sent to multiple air intelligence units but included no photos or physical evidence. Despite detailed descriptions, the object could not be definitively identified. The pilot described the object descending from a high position before leveling off directly in front of the aircraft, at an estimated distance of 5 to 10 miles. This case, like many from the era, highlights the uncertainty and need for rigorous analysis in unidentified aerial phenomena reports.
