🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In May 1954, three observers at Washington National Airport spotted white objects moving in pairs. The objects, described as round and bright, disappeared and reappeared three times, each time for 45 seconds. They moved in straight paths and made 90-degree turns, drawing attention from the witnesses. Although initially thought to be meteors, the reports concluded they were unidentified. The observers, experienced in night watch duties, provided consistent descriptions, adding credibility to the sighting.
The objects left no physical evidence and no photos were taken, but their unusual and repeated behavior generated an official report. The air base sent the data to intelligence, and an officer noted that the witnesses were familiar with UFO topics, though this was not considered to affect the truth of their accounts. The report concluded that the objects could not be identified with known phenomena, leaving the door open for further investigation.
