🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In May 1954, an Air Force officer photographed a bright luminous object during a mapping mission near Richmond, Indiana. The object, moving at twice the speed of the aircraft, sparked intense debate. Although initially resembling a UFO, analysis concluded it was an optical phenomenon caused by ice crystals. Sunlight reflected by these formations created an illusion that confused observers.
The investigation included photographic reviews, ground studies, and consultations with astronomers and meteorologists. Despite no physical evidence found, the case was deemed significant due to its clarity and the witness's accuracy. The final explanation, though scientific, did not remove the mystery, making it a classic example of how nature can mimic the inexplicable.
