🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In May 1954, Major Leo Brubaker, a U.S. Air Force officer, reported an unidentified flying object over Richmond, Indiana. The incident occurred at 12:25 PM and lasted approximately 45 seconds. Brubaker estimated the object's speed at around 440 knots, significantly faster than his aircraft, which was traveling at 220 knots. The object was photographed and appeared to be moving in a north-south direction. The images captured show a clear silhouette and a defined trajectory, generating interest at the local air base. Despite efforts, the object could not be identified as a natural phenomenon or a known artifact.
The report includes a series of photographs and technical data such as the sun's altitude, the observer's position, and the type of camera used. Major Brubaker, an experienced aviator, described the object as something that could not be explained with the knowledge of the time. This case adds to the list of UFO sightings during the 1950s, a period in which curiosity about the unknown grew alongside the development of modern aviation. Although no definitive conclusion was reached, the Richmond case remains an intriguing mystery for researchers of unexplained aerial phenomena.
