🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In 1954, a pilot with the Ohio Air National Guard reported an object following him for over 30 minutes during a training flight between Columbus and Dayton. The pilot, flying an F-51 Mustang, described the object as a white light that moved unpredictably. Despite performing maneuvers to either lose or collide with it, the object maintained its position relative to the aircraft. Neither the control tower nor other aircraft could see the object, leading to confusion. The Air Force classified it as a canopy reflection, but the pilot insisted it wasn't a jet or a balloon.
The official investigation included testimonies from multiple sources, including control towers and base personnel. Although several conventional explanations were ruled out, the final report didn't reach a definitive conclusion. The case generated local media interest, and the pilot was interviewed by reporters before the Air Force could officially address it. The incident highlights the complexity of UFO reports from that era, where lack of clear evidence and media pressure played significant roles.
