🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In June 1954, a pilot of British Overseas Airways Corp. (BOAC) reported an unusual aerial phenomenon while flying over the Labrador area. The pilot described the incident as "a large burst of flak and six smaller blobs," observing a formation of objects that remained near his aircraft for approximately 18 minutes. The aircraft was at 19,000 feet when the objects appeared, and the pilot noted that one of them had an appearance similar to a "flying jellyfish," changing shape in an unusual way. A U.S. Air Force jet attempted to intercept the objects, but they disappeared as it approached. Although several crew members confirmed the sighting, authorities concluded that the phenomenon could have been a thermal inversion reflecting the light of the planet Mars. This case, though not definitively resolved, was shared with the British Air Ministry as part of efforts to understand UFO reports.
