🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1954, an air traffic controller at Fairchild Air Force Base in Washington observed a mysterious object for over an hour. The object appeared translucent, shaped like a teardrop, and moved from northeast to southwest. Despite several jets attempting to intercept it, it made no sound and remained at a high altitude. Photos were taken using binoculars mounted on a camera, but when developed, the negatives only showed tiny particles. Investigators concluded it might have been a weather balloon, though its appearance and behavior left some uncertainty.
The witness, a 23-year-old with technical training in air traffic control, described the object as transparent with something hanging from it, resembling a balloon. Despite clear skies and no clouds, the object's true nature remained unidentified. The official evaluation pointed to a balloon, but the testimony and images didn't fully resolve the mystery, leaving room for speculation.
