Summary

A U.S. Navy officer, M. J. Brown, reported an unidentified flying object in July 1954 while sailing near the Florida Reefs. The object appeared suddenly in the sky, shaped like an egg and glowing with a pale blue hue. It moved at incredible speed and emitted four light cones. Although no sound was detected, the witness described the object as passing very close to the ship, at an estimated "huge" distance. The observation lasted only 6 seconds but was detailed and precise, including corrections of orientation errors on a map.

The Navy and Air Force analyzed the report, considering possible explanations such as a meteorite or astronomical phenomenon. However, the officer rejected these theories, as the object moved parallel to the horizon, a behavior unusual for meteors. Despite the thorough description, no definitive conclusion was reached, and the case was classified as "probably astronomical". The full report includes diagrams, corrections, and additional testimonies, showing the rigor with which UFO sightings were handled during that time.
