🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1954, a round yellow object was spotted over Washington D.C. for two minutes. Witnesses described it as resembling a balloon but with movements similar to an aircraft. The object had a light on the edge and emitted two flashes before disappearing. Although a balloon or aircraft were considered, no definitive identification was made. The lack of noise and absence of aerodynamic features added mystery to the case.
The official report classified it as a probable aircraft sighting, but other explanations were not ruled out. The object moved parallel to the ground at an approximate altitude of five miles, placing it at a considerable height. Despite the detailed description, its speed and identity could not be accurately determined. This case, like many from the era, reflects the confusion and interest generated by UFO sightings in the 1950s.
