🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1954, an aircraft over the Atlantic recorded the observation of an unidentified object. The incident occurred near the coordinates 4120N-3020W, at an altitude of 3,000 feet. A single object was seen for seven minutes, with an appearance similar to a B-47 aircraft. Observers, including the captain and several officers, confirmed the object was ahead of their plane and moved away at a speed of 43 knots. Visibility was excellent, and the sighting occurred in daylight.
The report concluded that the nature of the object could not be determined with certainty. Several possibilities were considered, such as balloons, aircraft, or astronomical phenomena, but there were not enough data for a definitive evaluation. The report was shared with multiple U.S. Air Force units, including the USAF Intelligence Center in Washington, D.C. The personnel involved in the observation included Captain Amend and several officers from the 36th MATS, who were interviewed by an intelligence officer.
