🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1954, multiple witnesses in Virginia observed a glowing white object that suddenly appeared in the sky. It was described as a non-solid object, similar to a sparkler, moving in a straight line from the southwest to the northeast. The phenomenon lasted between 3 and 10 seconds and vanished abruptly, like a light bulb turning off. Although initially considered a meteor, the reports did not completely rule out other conventional explanations.
The official air intelligence report classifies the incident as a meteor, but the data is not conclusive. Testimonies from civilians and a military personnel were recorded, who observed the object without optical aids. The weather was clear, aiding visibility. Despite investigations, no definitive explanation was found, and it was suggested that it could have been the exhaust of a jet aircraft or a tail light from a low-flying jet.
