Summary

In September 1954, a civilian observer in Butler, Missouri reported seeing a formation of 20 to 30 white lights in the sky. The object made no sound and moved straight west-southwest at an estimated altitude of 40-50,000 feet. The sighting lasted 1½ minutes before the object disappeared. Radar and aircraft data failed to confirm any conventional explanation. The report concluded the object was unknown.
