🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In September 1954, over Lafayette, Louisiana, a civilian and two military aircraft observed three round orange objects flying in a straight path parallel to the horizon. Although the duration of the sighting was not recorded accurately, the event occurred at night. One of the pilots involved identified the objects as a large meteor, leading to the official conclusion that it was a meteorological phenomenon. The description of the objects and their trajectory generated interest, but there were no photographs or physical evidence to support the observation.
Weather conditions in the area showed moderate winds at different altitudes, with 12 miles visibility and scattered clouds. Despite the lack of precise details on the duration of the sighting, the observers' descriptions aligned on shape, color, and path. The official investigation found no elements suggesting an unconventional explanation, closing the case with an identification as a meteor.
