🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In October 1954, a worker at the U.S. Naval Ammunition Depot in Crane, Indiana, reported seeing an unidentified flying object. The witness, along with his wife, observed an oval-shaped object approximately 75 feet long, surrounded by a brilliant halo of blue-violet flame. The object was traveling in a straight line toward the northeast at a speed far exceeding that of jet aircraft. Although the sound was barely audible, it resembled that of a ricocheting projectile. The sighting lasted between 3 and 5 seconds, and there was no known air traffic in the area at the time.
The report was submitted to military authorities and classified as likely astronomical, specifically a meteor. However, the witness, considered reliable, provided details that do not easily fit a conventional explanation. Despite the classification as an astronomical event, the description of the object and its behavior remains intriguing for researchers of unexplained aerial phenomena.
