🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A civilian observer in Kew Gardens, New York, reported a circular, blue object that remained stationary for half an hour. The witness used a telescope and compass, stating it was not a star. After it disappeared to the north, investigators concluded it was Mars, which was on the horizon at that time. Although the report came secondhand, it was considered a valid astronomical observation.
The case included no photos or physical evidence, and exact coordinates were not recorded. However, the time and location matched Mars's setting. The basis for the conclusion was the object's lack of movement, typical of a planet. Despite the report's ambiguity, investigators deemed it a common astronomical phenomenon.
