Summary

In October 1954, an observer at Miho Air Base in Japan spotted a bright object moving rapidly across the sky. The object, described as round or oval, appeared at an elevation of 12-15 degrees above the horizon in the southwest and disappeared 45 seconds later heading north, behind a cloud at 4,000 feet. Notably, it left no trail or sound and appeared to grow larger and brighter as it approached. The observer used 7x50 binoculars, increasing the credibility of the sighting.

The object's description and behavior ruled out the possibility of it being a star or planet. Additionally, its lateral movement and the fact that it passed in front of a cloud layer at 21,000 feet—without being affected by the cloud's motion—raised questions about its identity. Despite subsequent investigations, no conventional explanation was found. The official conclusion was that the object remained unidentified, leaving an unresolved mystery in the Air Force archives.
