In May 1956, several reliable engineers reported a series of unidentified flying objects detected by radar. These objects, flying in formation at high speed, were not attacked due to lack of appropriate weaponry. Air Defense Command units observed these flights, but no action was taken.
During the following months, Hungary witnessed numerous sightings. Reports described objects that could change direction and speed unpredictably. Despite investigations, authorities concluded it was a myth or propaganda. One engineer remarked that, even if real, he hoped they were on their way to bomb Moscow.
