🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In December 1954, a farmer in Hamilton, Alabama, reported that a meteorite had fallen on his farm. According to his account, the object created a crater 9 feet wide, 4 feet deep, and 52 feet long. He requested that a team be sent to inspect the site and determine the meteorite's value. However, the Air Technical Intelligence Center (ATIC) deemed the case non-priority and closed it as "unprofitable." Despite attempts to coordinate a local verification, no contact was made with the witness or local authorities.
In May 1959, the case was revisited following a phone call, but officials at Maxwell Air Force Base argued they lacked resources and personnel to conduct an investigation. The case was ultimately archived without action, reflecting the typical official indifference toward unconventional aerial reports during the Cold War.
