🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In January 1955, an observer in San Mateo, Florida, reported a bright, apparently burning, meteor-like object moving across the sky from west to east at a low altitude. The sighting was brief and generated some concern, but authorities concluded it could be a balloon, an aircraft, or even an astronomical phenomenon.
The report lacked precise data and only included a crude sketch, making proper evaluation difficult. Despite being forwarded to different air force units, no clear conclusion was reached. These kinds of records, though incomplete, are valuable for understanding how UFO sightings were handled in the 1950s.
