🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In January 1955, an object was sighted over Jacksonville, Florida, appearing round, very bright, and trailing a long fire-like streak. Two observers, one civilian and one military, reported the event from control towers at two different airports. The object appeared at dawn and vanished within seconds. Although a meteorite was considered, the object's nature remained unconfirmed. Weather conditions were favorable, with strong winds at high altitudes, making a definitive identification difficult.
The report, under Project 10073, includes no photographs and concludes the object could have been astronomical. However, the data is insufficient for a conclusive evaluation. This case reflects the ambiguity surrounding many sightings of the time, where science and speculation intertwined without a clear answer.
