🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A 1955 report describes the observation of a bright object initially classified as a UFO. Witnesses in Pittsfield and Detroit saw a luminous object with a circular shape, similar to a 4-foot saw. Although several possibilities were considered, such as balloons, aircraft, or even an astronomical phenomenon, investigators concluded it was Venus. The object showed no signs of combustion or emissions and its brightness changed slightly, leading to initial confusion.
The report, classified under Project 10'73, was reviewed by multiple air intelligence offices and confirmed there was no evidence of extraterrestrial activity. It was noted that Venus can appear as a bright and stable object in the sky, especially under clear conditions. The observation lasted around 15 minutes and was recorded by local authorities and civilians, who reported no anomalies. In the end, it was concluded that the confusion stemmed from a misidentification of the planet.
