🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In February 1955, an observer in Bettles, Alaska, sighted an unusual object at high altitude. He described a slender fuselage, an extremely pointed nose, and a needle-like object extending from the front. The object left a white, billowing smoke trail about five miles long and appeared to move faster than jet aircraft. Despite attempts to contact it on all radio channels, there was no response. The sighting was classified as a "guided missile," suggesting authorities considered an unconventional explanation.
The report, under Project 10073, includes no photos or radar data but notes the object had a yellow fin possibly caused by sunlight. Conventional explanations such as balloons or aircraft were ruled out, but no definitive conclusion was reached, leaving open the possibility of an unknown origin.
