🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In March 1955, a civilian observer in Florida saw several bright, flare-like objects moving earthward over Lake Okeechobee. The sighting was reported visually from the ground and no photographs were taken. Although the exact number of objects was not counted, a phone call confirmed that flares had been launched in the area.
The Maxwell Flight Service Center verified that three B-47 aircraft had been conducting a weight photo mission at the time. This suggests the observed flares were likely related to the military activity. Despite the lack of detailed data, the conclusion was that the objects were flares, not UFOs or astronomical phenomena.
