🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In March 1955, a witness in Sonoma, California, observed an object described as the size of a dime held at arm's length, silver in color. The object was seen for about 30 seconds, moving in a straight line westward. Although the observer believed it to be a balloon, the lack of detailed information and the short duration of the sighting led investigators to not authorize further investigation. The official conclusion was that it could possibly be a balloon, though an aircraft was also considered.
The report, though brief, reflects the typical ambiguity of UFO cases from that era. There were no photographs or additional data to confirm the object's nature. Despite the observer being a student, suggesting a casual sighting, the case was not considered a priority for further investigation. This attitude was common in the 1950s, when many sightings were filed away without further analysis.
