🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In April 1955, a witness in Kansas City, Missouri, reported seeing a round object the size of a dime held at arm's length. The phenomenon was described as extremely fast, with erratic movements and abrupt directional changes. The observer watched it for 2 to 3 minutes without hearing any sound. Although no photos were taken, the report includes meteorological details such as unlimited visibility and high clouds. The U.S. Air Force concluded that the object was not a balloon, an aircraft, or an astronomical phenomenon, but likely the reflection of a searchlight on clouds.
The official explanation was accepted, and no further investigation was authorized. This case reflects how many sightings from that era were attributed to conventional explanations without the need to consider more exotic hypotheses.
