Summary

In April 1955, a military observer reported a bright silver object with a delta wing appearance over New Orleans. The incident occurred while the observer was flying at 7,000 feet altitude and noticed the object during a pilot's maneuver. Initially thought to be a jet aircraft, the observer changed their mind when the object appeared stationary. It remained visible for one to two minutes at an estimated altitude of 15,000 feet. Despite radar attempts to locate it, no results were found. The investigation concluded it was probably an aircraft, though not definitively identified.

The investigation included checks with air and weather stations, but no weather balloons or other objects accounted for the sighting. Multiple aircraft were recorded in the area, supporting the theory that the object might have been an unidentified aircraft. However, the observer, experienced in aerial observation, described details not matching conventional aircraft of the time. The official report classifies it as probably an aircraft, but leaves open the possibility of an unconventional phenomenon.
