🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In April 1955, an observer in Dahlgren, Virginia, reported a round object between 20 and 30 feet in diameter with a metallic silver shine. The object was seen for one and a half hours, moving very slowly. Although a theodolite was used to observe it, it was not visible to the naked eye. Authorities considered several explanations, including balloon, aircraft, or astronomical phenomenon.
The report details that the object was detected at an estimated altitude of 38,000 feet, with an elliptical course. Meteorological data indicated clear conditions with light winds. Despite careful observation, the object could not be identified with certainty. It was concluded that it might have been a balloon released by the Norfolk Naval Base, although other possibilities were not ruled out.
