🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In April 1955, a witness in Jamestown, California, spotted a round, white object in the sky. The sighting occurred at night and was recorded as a ground-based visual observation. Although no photos were taken, the report concluded with certainty that the object was a weather balloon. The data indicate that the object was at a high altitude and moving westward. The witness observed it for a considerable amount of time.
The case was documented under Project 10073, an initiative from that era to record and analyze UFO sightings. Despite the object's conventional nature, the report was carefully documented, including details such as the exact time, location, and weather conditions. This type of record helps understand how sightings were handled in the 1950s, before more modern protocols for investigating aerial phenomena were established.
