Summary

In May 1955, a witness in Los Angeles observed a round, red object emitting a bright glow. The phenomenon lasted four or five minutes and remained stationary in the northwest sky at about 30 degrees elevation. Although the report classifies it as "possibly a balloon," there was not enough data to determine its true nature. The witness did not report any aircraft activity or clear astronomical events, leaving investigators without a definitive explanation.

The report includes weather and wind conditions but no photographs or radar data to support the sighting. The document was processed by several air intelligence units, but ultimately no conclusive determination was made. Like many cases from that era, this one was filed with the label "insufficient information for evaluation."
