🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In May 1955, a farmer in Alexandria, Minnesota, discovered an unusual object in a field he had recently plowed. The object, weighing about half a bushel, was sent for analysis to the Air Technical Intelligence Center. Investigators concluded it was a piece of hard coal that had partially burned. Although initially considered an unexplained phenomenon, the analysis confirmed it had no connection to unidentified flying objects. The coal was taken to Wright Field for further study, but no evidence of supernatural or extraterrestrial activity was found.
The case was archived as a common terrestrial phenomenon, and the burned coal was stored as part of an artifact collection. Despite the seemingly simple resolution, this incident is an example of how even the most mundane objects can generate curiosity and be investigated in the context of UFO studies. The original document, dated 1955, remains an interesting piece for enthusiasts of declassified files.
