🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In May 1955, a witness in Elyria, Ohio, spotted a black cigar-shaped object the size of a B-47 at high altitude. The sighting lasted only three seconds, and the object was heading east. Poor visibility conditions made a definitive identification difficult. Although balloon or aircraft possibilities were considered, investigators concluded it could be an aircraft, likely commercial, due to heavy air traffic in the area. No further investigation was authorized.
The report, part of Project 10073 records, lacks photographs and is based on a ground visual observation. Weather data indicated strong winds at various altitudes and limited visibility due to storms. Despite the brief nature of the sighting, the report highlights the location in a high-traffic area. The official conclusion was that the object "could be an aircraft," reflecting the typical uncertainty of many UFO cases from that era.
