🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In May 1955, two civilian observers in Clearfield, Pennsylvania, reported a luminous object that changed color between white and red. The object had no defined shape and made no sound, ruling out the possibility of being an aircraft. Two planes were vectored toward the object's location but had to return to base due to fuel limitations. Observers confirmed the object was not an aircraft, as they compared it with the lights of planes passing nearby.
The official conclusion of the report pointed to the astronomical body Altair, which was rising at the time of the sighting. The lack of radar detection and the inability to make physical contact with the planes supported this explanation. Despite this, the phenomenon generated interest due to its apparent stillness and intermittent glow, which made it stand out in a clear, starry sky.
