🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In June 1955, an observer on Samish Island, Washington, reported an object for thirty minutes. Although initially logged as a UFO sighting, the final conclusion indicated it was a submarine. This case is interesting because, despite being clearly identified as a submerged vessel, it was classified as UFOB, a category that includes unidentified sightings within the continental limits of the United States.
The confusion may have arisen because the submarine did not display conventional visual characteristics, or perhaps its behavior was unusual for the time. This case highlights how even conventional objects can be misinterpreted, especially when observed at a distance or under conditions that limit visibility. Despite the resolution of the case, it remains a curious example of how sightings were recorded in the 1950s.
