Summary

In July 1955, a pilot reported a silver object descending in a straight line 50 miles southeast of Sacramento, California. The object was observed for one minute and did not explode upon impact with the ground. Ground radar and air visual sightings confirmed its fall. Although initially resembling an aircraft, investigators considered the possibility of a weather balloon. The area was known for balloon launches, supporting the theory that the object was not a conventional plane.
