🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1955, a witness reported an unidentified object near St Marboo, Massachusetts. The object appeared as a bright light with jagged edges and displayed colors such as red, orange, yellow, and blue. A pilot from the local Squadron 303 made several passes over the area, but failed to identify the object. Observers used binoculars, which might have influenced the perception of colors and size. At the time, Saturn was in the sky at an altitude of 30 degrees, in the southwest direction, suggesting the object could have been Saturn seen through haze or clouds.
Although the sighting lasted twenty minutes, no photos were taken and the data is limited. Authorities could not conclusively determine if the object was a balloon, aircraft, or astronomical in nature. The lack of clear evidence and the possibility that Saturn was seen under adverse weather conditions keep this case uncertain. The report does not include definitive conclusions, reflecting the ambiguity of the observation.
