🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1955, a witness in Manhasset, New York, observed a bright light crossing the sky from west to east. The sighting lasted between 10 and 12 seconds, with the object estimated at around 15,000 feet. At the time, there were local thunderstorms and a cloud layer at 20,000 feet, making a clear identification difficult. The official report concluded there was insufficient data to evaluate the phenomenon. Despite the brief nature of the sighting, the witness did not report landing lights or typical aircraft behavior, raising some uncertainty.
Additionally, there was a parallel report of an object that fell in Flower Hill, New York, and was investigated by local police. It was thought to be a weather balloon or some atmospheric device. However, no direct connection was made between this incident and the Manhasset sighting. The case was classified as "insufficient for evaluation," indicating no conclusive explanation was found. Despite the lack of data, the event remains an intriguing mystery in UFO history.
