Greenish Spherical UFO Observed in Maine 1955

In July 1955, a spherical object with a greenish hue and a green trail nine to ten miles long was observed in Augusta, Maine. The phenomenon was seen from both ground and air, and also detected by radar. Witnesses reported that the object illuminated the sky like a ball of fire and emitted a humming sound. Although the duration of the sighting seemed incompatible with a meteorite, investigators concluded it was likely one. Meteorite trails are known to reflect radar well, which matched the object's description.

The official investigation considered that, despite the unusual duration, the object fit the characteristics of a meteorite.
