🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1955, a witness in Hollywood, California, reported a round white object traveling in a straight line northward. The observer, a member of the Ground Observers Corps, described it as the size of a dime held at arm's length. Initially estimating the sighting lasted 30 seconds, the witness later corrected it to between 3 and 4 seconds. The report noted minor inconsistencies, such as the lack of clouds and the presence of many stars. The official conclusion leaned toward a possible astronomical explanation, though no definitive answer was reached.
The case was investigated by the Air Force, which deemed the witness unreliable. Albert J. DeLong admitted to previously mistaking a pelican for a UFO. Despite this, his testimony included details like the object's white color with a green tint and its steady movement. The investigation could not conclusively identify the phenomenon, and the final report stated there was insufficient data for evaluation. The case was filed as "possibly astronomical," but other possibilities were not ruled out.
