🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1955, a small, round, orange and red object was sighted in the sky over Charleston and Greenville, Missouri. Witnesses described it as very distant and moving at high speed. Although no photos were taken, both military and civilian sources reported the observation. The report suggests it could have been an aircraft, as there was air activity in the area at the time, and clouds might have distorted the perception of the object's actual speed. However, the lack of precise data left open the possibility of an unconventional aerial phenomenon.
The official conclusion was not definitive but leaned toward it being "possibly" an aircraft. This was based on the coincidence with air activity and the possibility that weather conditions misled the observers. Despite two brief sightings, one at 03:09 and another at 03:20 in the early morning, there was no conclusive evaluation. The case remains one of those reports that suggest a conventional explanation but leave room for doubt.
