🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1955, a witness in La Habra, California, spotted an unusual elongated object with a dark brown color. The object was moving faster than a jet and was observed for 15 seconds heading northeast. Although a ground visual observation was recorded, there were no photographs or additional data to allow a conclusive evaluation. Investigators considered possibilities such as balloons, aircraft, or astronomical phenomena, but no definitive explanation was reached. The report highlighted the lack of sufficient details to rule out or confirm any hypothesis.
The report was shared with several military units and air technical intelligence centers, including the Air Technical Intelligence Center at Wright-Patterson. A controller, Lieutenant Kenneth D. Weber, noted that at the time, two F-8-A aircraft were orbiting Van Nuys Airport in a landing pattern, but they were not linked to the sighting. Visibility was clear with few high clouds and an elevation angle of 30 degrees. Despite favorable conditions, the object could not be identified, and the report concluded with a negative evaluation due to insufficient data.
