🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1955, two witnesses in Syracuse, New York, spotted two round objects with red and green lights that changed colors. The objects moved from west to east and appeared larger than typical navigation lights. The sighting lasted between 35 and 40 seconds. Although initially considered a balloon or astronomical phenomenon, investigators concluded it was an aircraft. The flashing lights and correlation with local air traffic supported this conclusion.
The official Project 10073 record noted the sighting as a ground visual observation, with no photos. It highlighted that two aircraft had been logged in the area around the same time. Despite the lack of visual confirmation, available data led to the conclusion that the phenomenon was of aerial origin. This case exemplifies how UFO reports were assessed during the Cold War.
