🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1955, a woman in Old Town, Maine, reported seeing an object in the sky described as shapeless and reddish-orange. The sighting lasted about two minutes, with the object moving northeast before disappearing. Weather conditions were poor: there was fog, visibility limited to four miles, and the sky was completely overcast. Despite the detailed description, investigators concluded there was not enough information to determine the object’s nature. No photos were taken and there was no further follow-up, leaving the mystery unresolved.
The observer, a reliable homemaker, reported the incident through official channels, but the report yielded no definitive conclusions. The lack of precise data and poor visibility contributed to the case being labeled as insufficient for evaluation. Cases like this, though common at the time, rarely led to concrete answers, and this one was no exception.
