🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A red, round object the size of a nickel was sighted in the sky over St. Cloud, Minnesota, on July 23, 1955. The witness, a civilian, observed it for seven to eight minutes as it traveled slowly westward. Through binoculars, the object maintained a straight and steady course across a large portion of the sky. Although balloon or astronomical explanations were initially considered, investigators concluded it was likely an aircraft. A Northwestern flight left Minneapolis for Fargo 20 minutes before the sighting, and St. Cloud lies along that route. This coincidence supports the hypothesis that the observed object was a commercial airplane.
