🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1955, a witness in Van Nuys, California, reported a UFO of elliptical shape and silver color. The object, the size of a nickel at arm's length, was observed for between ten and fifteen seconds. It was traveling north to south at a speed "faster than a jet," according to the witness. Despite the sighting occurring in daylight and ruling out a meteor, there was not enough information to determine the nature of the object. The report concluded that the data was insufficient for a definitive evaluation.
The witness, a 23-year-old piano teacher, described the weather as clear with ten-mile visibility. There were no photographs or radar records, and the only observation was a ground visual. This case, part of Project 10073, reflects the difficulty investigators of the time had in classifying unidentified objects based on limited testimony.
