🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1955, a witness in Queens, New York, reported seeing four spherical objects moving in pairs, alternating directions every 15 to 20 seconds. The sighting lasted about 30 minutes, and the objects were described as similar to the light of a light bulb. Although the witness did not see visible beams of light, investigators concluded they were likely searchlights. The cloudy sky and absence of stars or moon made it difficult to identify the objects accurately.
The investigation by the 4602d AISS found no unusual aircraft or balloon activity in the area. Local sources, including a searchlight company in Palisades Amusement Park, confirmed their lights were operational that night. Investigators concluded the objects were likely searchlights illuminating clouds and reflecting, creating the illusion of multiple objects. Although the witness was considered reliable, his testimony was supplemented with technical data and expert contacts to reach a plausible explanation.
