🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1955, a U.S. Air Force officer in Iceland observed an unusual aerial phenomenon. The object, which changed shape from cigar-like to egg-shaped, moved at astonishing speeds, from nearly stationary to over 1,000 mph. The witness described a formation that shifted between wavy lines and straight lines, with around twelve objects in total. Although radar was not operational at the time, the report concluded that the phenomenon could not be identified with the available data.
The officer, who happened to look up at the sky, noted that the objects were at about 25 degrees altitude and disappeared into the clouds. Although possible explanations such as birds or balloons were considered, the official report classified the sighting as "unidentified." This observation, recorded in an official document, remains an unresolved mystery in UFO history.
